Lovingly named after NASA's "Telstar" satellite launched In 1962 (the first of its kind to successfully beam television, phone calls, and telegraphs across the Atlantic), Guyatone's Telstar of the '60s was an experimental guitar the likes of which no-one had ever seen. Not only did it absolutely tear apart any notion of what a guitar should look like, but it also included a full 24 frets across a 25 1/2" scale length - an otherworldly spec in and of itself, for the time.

We feel the Telstar is just too cool for there to be so few of them out there... so let's bring it back!

The Eastwood Telstar 2 will pay tribute to the original in great space-age detail, and will include our EW RTG Single Coil pickups (see the SD-40 Hound Dog for tones) to capture all the '60s vintage vibes you need!

Every day we receive suggestions for new models from guitar players like you. We take the best ideas and turn them into projects.

These ideas are uploaded here where you can reserve one with a small deposit. A reasonable funding goal sets the project in motion.

Once the project reaches its funding goal, we go to production. When your instrument is ready, you pay the balance, and we ship!

For a while now we’ve been looking for a better way to bring custom guitars to our customers. Each and every day we receive dozens of requests for customizations and special models. While some of the ideas are downright fantastic, we just can’t create them all.

While Crowdfunding initiatives are nothing new, this model is new to the guitar industry.  It’s a model we believe in, and believe our customers will appreciate and take part in. This will allow us to build more of those customer-suggested models and the best part of all – you save money every step of the way.

    How Does This Save Money?

Because we get a clear picture of initial production and setup costs, we can better manage expenses at these early stages. It removes various levels of financial risk in the manufacturing process and therefore the savings can be passed on to you.

    Why Do Things This Way?

Pre-Orders help to ensure we have the model/color you want as opposed to our standard short production runs where we often sell out quickly. Or the flip side, where we get stuck with a model/color that nobody wants, which wastes money.

    Can We Submit Ideas?

Absolutely! Please drop us a line if you have a suggestion for a new model. If we think it will find enough pre-order customers, we will post it and give you the tools to help promote it within your social media networks.

The deposit will be charged when you complete checkout. We will invoice the balance when your guitar is ready.

Deposits range from $100-$300USD, depending on the final retail price of the instrument.

The funding goal is determined based on the minimum quantity of deposits required to go forward with product.

Of course! You will receive a full refund if the project goal is not met within the funding period.

Unless a promotion mentions a Custom Project specifically, any discount offer is not valid toward one of these instruments. However, if you back two projects, the deposit for your third one's on us!

Production schedules vary depending on the instrument. An ETA will be shown on each project's page, and you'll be updated along the way. Your remaining balance will be invoiced when the instrument is ready to ship to you.

Yes, projects are fully refundable until we commit to production with our manufacturing facilities (typically 7-10 days after funding closes). After that time, the pre-order deposit is non-refundable.

We offer international shipping on any successfully funded model. Shipping within continenal USA, the UK, and within the EU is FREE. Shipping elsewhere varies depending upon your address, and will be charged when making your final payment. For pricing, please view our shipping page.

If you do not like the item once you’ve received it – for any reason – you can return it for a full refund LESS your initial pledge amount, or you can return it for a full store credit INCLUDING the initial pledge amount.
